When we hear the name Peter, the apostle of Jesus Christ, what is the first image that comes to mind? "Impetuous," 'Great braggart, ' 'Self-willed and self-believing, ' or "Cowardly because he denied the Lord Jesus three times." Far from deserving his nickname of "man of stone," Peter seems to be a tragicomic figure, volatile, flighty and lacking the spiritual maturity one would expect to find in the leader of the disciples of Jesus Christ.
Peter himself would be the first to recognize the validity of some of these derogatory qualities.
