I'm a business man. My business? Killing.

Most would assume being an assassin is a no rules kinda profession. It's not. There are eight rules to being a hitman for hire. I never had a problem with any of them until my best friend went and fell in love with my mark.

And now he hates me. Which frankly makes him an asshole because I didn't even kill her.

Still, when he calls and offers me a chance to get back into his good graces by helping him out with his little sister, I agree.

Then what do I do?

Kiss her.

I have no idea why. She's maddening and annoying. Her sunshine personality too bright for my permanent black mood. She never shuts up and thinks everything's exciting. And she's a terrible driver, runs over everything in that damn wheelchair.

It's definitely not because of the thousands of flowers always in her hair or the way her wide hazel eyes look at me like I'm a hero and not a villain.

I am a villain. Always was and always will be.

V doesn't know that though, because her brother, my best friend, never told her what I did. Who I really am. He's forbidden me to go near her, but like I mentioned, following rules isn't what I do.

I might want to be her hero, but I'm starting to think this girl needs a villain. Not only to free her from the cage her brother locks her in, but to keep her safe from the people who realize she's my weak spot.

People who will kill her to get to me. But once a villain, always a villain and if they want to get to her sun, they're gonna have to walk through my darkness to get there.
