Flamboyant costumes, raucous parties, and the festive atmosphere of Mardi Gras wouldn't be complete without a little mayhem. During the hype of the celebration, the scandalous mayor of Beaufort, North Carolina, Franklin Lane - who leads the infamous Krewe Les Beat - stirs up trouble when he becomes the primary suspect in the murder of Clayton Young.
Meghan Stone and her friend, Amie Booker, witnesses the murder. Franklin and Krewe Les Beat threatens them to keep their mouths shut. They try to report it to law enforcement, but it does no good because the mayor controls all of Beaufort. It becomes evident that political corruption has been an issue for years.
In seeking justice for Clayton's murder, Meghan and Amie strategize to frame Franklin. However, they find themselves being bullied and threatened by the corrupt krewe. Amidst the parading pandemonium, will the masquerade be over?

Lisa M. Lucero is the author of six books and works in the field of higher education data. Her latest novel Killer Krewe is a thriller suspense. A former journalist, she has written for various newspapers, covering a wide range of subjects, including government, education, crime, arts and entertainment, and community events. Her experience as a journalist has helped develop her writing skills in both journalistic and creative fields. Her suspense romance Waves Crashing was her first novel. Lucero also has written the science fiction novels The Death Firm and The Re-creation of the Death Firm, and the dark fantasy novel Night Shadow.
Lucero grew up in McPherson, Kansas. She graduated from McPherson High School and Fort Hays State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in communications. She also attended Hutchinson Community College, where she majored in journalism.
She is married to Jeremy Shapiro and has a son. She currently resides in Newton, Iowa. She is an administrative assistant I- data and records at Grinnell College.
During her spare time, she loves to travel, read, listen to music, run, and spend time with her family. Lucero also enjoys taking voice lessons and singing in recitals. Lucero loves to broaden her horizons by learning new skills and keeping herself active by undergoing new challenges.
