The biography of Alene Duerk who was the first woman to reach an Admiral's rank in the US Navy which is a small part of her career. Alene was a nurse her entire life. She devoted her life to the care of patients as well as to those individuals wanting to become a registered nurse.
She grew up in a small town in Ohio but traveled the world visiting hospitals, nurses and students. She encouraged others to value the role of a nurse in caring for patients and understanding various options available to nurses throughout her career.
