Maya is kidnapped by the cruel Mystik faction known as the Relinquished, led by Benton, who can strip powers from Mystiks. He tortures Maya and nearly kills Elijah in an effort to extract information about her abilities.
They devise a plan to expose Edward's true intentions while helping Maya harness her powers. As they hide on the yacht, Maya grows more certain of her abilities and deepens her relationship with Elijah.
