A blast from Mallory Hemingway's past has arrived in tranquil Key West, and it's enough to make her want to hop on the next flight out. Andrew Mercer, the ex-boyfriend she left behind, is in town and wants her back. But when her blonde bombshell nemesis is found strangled to death in the Hemingway Home Bookstore, Andrew lands in the hot seat. Now, he's begging Mallory to clear his name, and if she refuses? Well, he's not above making her life difficult.
Thankfully, Mallory isn't tackling this mess alone. Determined to get her life back on track, she enlists the help of her quirky best friend, Juniper Jones, and her newest gal pal, the unfiltered Ernesta Castro-a pot-laced-cigar-smoking hippie with a penchant for motorcycle-riding, leather-clad giants. Together, they'll dig through the secrets surrounding the murder... but with every step, they uncover more questions-and more danger.
As if dealing with a murder and an annoying ex wasn't enough, Detective Luke Beckett is turning up the heat in more ways than one. His interest in Mallory isn't just professional, and she can't deny the attraction. But then Huck Jameson strolls back into town, and suddenly, her love life is as complicated as the case she's trying to crack.
With a killer on the loose, an ex stirring up trouble, and two men competing for her heart, Mallory has more than one mystery to solve. The question is, will she catch the killer before she loses her chance at happily ever after?
