The Angels of Bataan and Corregidor: A Legacy of Honor, Duty, and Compassion

"Throughout World War II, Navy Nurses earned over three hundred military awards and honors for their efforts and care. Navy Nurses have long set the standards of care for the profession and have exhibited the highest commitment to duty and sacrifice in service of our soldiers. From the original Sacred Twenty to the four thousand or more serving today, Navy Nurses lead the way in standards of practice, carrying the banner of that proud legacy.
Each of the Angels of Bataan and Corregidor shared the experience of becoming a Prisoner of War, yet no two were exactly alike. They came from diverse backgrounds, joined the Navy Nurse Corps from various parts of the country, and returned to different lives after the war. After the war some were eager to share their experiences, while others were anxious to get home and find their "new normal" life."then
The book begins with a description of the situation that brought these women together, and follows their story through the battle that led to their imprisonment, their heroic response to the needs of their fellow POWs, and their return home. Awarded Silver Stars, their story is one of honor, duty and compassion.
