商品簡介
Although often defined as a "minor center" by historiography, Terranuova Bracciolini plays a significant role in Tuscan history. Founded by the Florentine Republic in the first half of the fourteenth century, it owes its subsequent fame largely to having given birth to illustrious figures, such as the great humanist Poggio Bracciolini and some members of the local Concini family, who reached top-level positions as officials and court dignitaries.
The book focuses on a less studied period of its history, through a multidisciplinary analysis which goes from the sixteenth to the first half of the eighteenth century, when Tuscany was governed by the Medici Grand Dukes. The volume explores the institutional, economic and social transformations that occurred by analyzing the urban fabric, architecture, religiosity, art and family dynamics.
