When Doctor Sophia Young is awoken by a vivid dream in which her husband, Chris, is about to have an affair, she confronts him. He confirms her suspicion and admits that since reading Sex at Dawn years ago, he's wanted to be polyamorous but didn't have the courage to tell her. After much soul searching, Sophia agrees to a trial of consensual non-monogamy, both partners allowed to date, sleep with and love other people, while staying radically transparent with one another. Under his tutelage, the couple learns that, done well, polyamory has deep psychological and spiritual ramifications involving what Terrence McKenna called 'tribe mind.' Eventually, the adventurers discover the Goddess within, an archetype of archaic divinity written out of major religions as we became 'civilized.'
