Currently, the United States, as a country and as a people, are going through and facing some political, social, and philosophical changes and issues. The books in the Democracy in America? series attempt to highlight this and indicate the possible paths forward if these trends continue, and perhaps ways to forestall any negative paths. The first way is to voice these concerns. Hence these books. These books also attempt to bring attention to these events in what is hoped to be an easy-read presentation. These books are formatted into short concise statements, written as much as possible without jargon. Hopefully, easy-read (but not dumbed-down) can facilitate understanding. The author believes these issues are important and that Americans, as citizens, need to understand the status of their country and where it might be heading. The books in the Democracy in America? series can be read in any order. The Democracy in America? series is being written as events are unfolding in real time. The final outcomes are yet to be determined. But a healthy democracy depends on the active, ongoing participation of the People. This participation will help to determine any outcomes that may occur, and their direction.
