After an unacceptable number of voter deaths in this highly technologically advanced society it had evolved to simplify the election system. Each state is now represented by a single voter, casting one decisive vote for their entire state and the elections are held in one place only, on the president's fortified estate in the capital, in a building known as the 'White Podium.'
Why? To absolutely know the truth, you had to be in the capital and on the President's estate to see and hear in person what was actually happening in the country, including who won all the elections! Mainstream news propaganda, social media and corrupt technology had made reliable news practically obsolete.
Even communication devices evolved - they became known as "agents", sophisticated digital assistants for approved citizens only. Paper correspondence became a method of communication again and the White Podium and grounds had become the only real center of correct information.
In the upcoming election the two major candidates, Mr. Xander Steele and Miss constable Shadow, are both campaigning for the country to have two presidents. Mr. Steele is a popular conservative candidate, but his elitist attitude turns off many voters, he is determined to be President of the Conservative Party. Miss Shadow is an unpopular liberal within her party, but she is both beautiful accomplished and cunning. She is determined to be President of the Liberal Party. Their campaigns are causing violent riots at public events.
Despite crime, murder and the two candidates fighting each other with political hatred on the campaign trail; unbeknownst to the public, friends, or family, they are secretly dating behind closed doors! Maintaining the discipline to separate vicious political attacks from their ability to turn on love without hate could unravel at any time.
