"Mr. Carley has compiled astounding stories of heroism and its effect on others that will leave you with your mouth agape. It seems that heroes come in all kinds: wealthy, poor, worker, prisoner, during peace and wartime. It's a reminder that the person next to you might risk their livelihood to protect you. Carley's retellings force us to ask ourselves: 'What would I do if faced with such circumstances?'" -David H. Kurzman the great, great grandson of Isidor and Ida Straus, the once owners of Macy's department store and the loving couple who sacrificed their lives on board the Titanic "As a combat leader during the Vietnam conflict, I witnessed firsthand the heroism of American soldiers who gave their tomorrow so that we could have our today. Their love of both God and fellow man will forever stick in my brain. Robert Carley's inspiring book about those who have made the ultimate sacrifice provides a fresh reminder that heroes/heroines do still exist. More importantly, his work challenges each of us: 'Do I possess the love and courage to do likewise should a given situation call for such a decision?'" -Col. Scott McChrystal Former Chief Chaplain at West Point Military Academy "From the earliest days in human history, there have always been those men, women and children who have emerged as heroes in their community as a result of tragedy and horror. Perhaps unknown, they bring hope, peace, compassion and healing. Mr. Carley captures that spirit as demonstrated by the individuals in his book, Ultimate Sacrifice. Living through the sadness and tragedy of the Sandy Hook School Shooting, I witnessed the power of sacrifice made by many, especially the staff of the school, to save others and to help restore a community so badly bruised by the horror of evil in our midst." -Monsignor Robert Weiss Pastor, Saint Rose of Lima Parish, Newtown, Connecticut *The above people who endorsed this book do not necessarily agree with the author's theological beliefs.
