This year (2025), on the 50th anniversary of my public service starting as an Administrative Officer in the Hong Kong Government and morphing into a politician, after many twists and turns, I am pleased to publish the ninth edition of my series of books entitled “Regina’s English Works for You”.
The articles collected in this year’s “Regina’s English Works for You 9” fall under three broad areas: “Hong Kong’s Recovery and Resurgence” after our re-opening in early 2023, “Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area”, and “Emerging Rivalry between the East and the West”. The articles are a reflection of the global trends reshaping the world and life in Hong Kong. I hope readers can glean from these pieces some insight about the way the world is heading, and how we should position ourselves in a world transformed by “changes unseen in a hundred years”.
I hope you will enjoy reading these fairly short and readable pieces and, in the process, learn one or two new things about mastering the English language!

作者簡介
葉劉淑儀（Regina IP LAU Suk-yee），大紫荊勳賢，GBS，JP。1972年畢業於香港大學英文系，獲一級榮譽學士學位，及後再修讀了三個碩士學位課程：格拉斯哥大學文學碩士（主修文藝復興時期詩歌）、史丹福大學史隆管理課程碩士和史丹福大學東亞研究文學碩士。
葉太在1975年加入香港政府公務員政務職系，於1996年出任人民入境事務處處長，再於1998年出任保安局局長，是香港歷史上首位出掌紀律部隊的女性。葉太在2003年離職赴美進修，回港後，先在2006年7月成立「匯賢智庫」，續於2011年1月創立「新民黨」並擔任黨主席至今，再於2015年9月牽頭成立「海上絲綢之路協會」，擔任聯席主席。2024年5月，葉太帶領「匯賢智庫政策研究中心」舉辦首屆「全球繁榮峰會」，2025年亦成功舉辦第二屆。
葉太活躍政壇，於2008年9月當選第四屆立法會直選議員，及後於2012年、2016年及2021年成功連任；於2012年獲委任為行政會議非官守成員至今，並於2022年獲委任行政會議非官守議員召集人，是香港回歸後首位擔任此職的女性。2012年及2017年，葉太先後兩次參加行政長官選舉。
2025年，葉太服務香港五十週年。
