The House on Main Street: A Cape Cod Tale

The house on Main Street has stood for generations overlooking the Cape Cod waters around Chatham. Cliff Stone ventures to this old Victorian mansion where he and his family spent happier times. In the dead of winter, the summer rental should have been closed up, but when he arrives at dusk, a flicker of light draws him near. Candlelight reveals two young women inside-one a bloom of beauty, the other, not. Once they invite him in, his life changes in ways he neither imagined nor wished. Following the fictional tale of the house on Main Street, an Afterword tells the actual history of the 1850 Mansard Victorian, which served as the inspiration for the book. It traces the land and the ghosts who haunt it all the way back to the 1600's, when the French Explorer Samuel DeChamplain first encountered the native American Monomoit Indians on the exact spot where the current House on Main Street now stands.
