Moms: Made in His Image

The traditional model of God as a Father is often rejected by people who have a difficult time embracing a masculine deity, especially those who have been abused by men. But the good news is that the God of the Bible encompasses all of the best qualities of all of humanity because, as Genesis 1:27 tells us, He created both male and female in His image. Every good quality that we have is a reflection of Who He is, since "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning" (James 1:17 NKJV).

I never understood the depth of God's love that is mentioned in 1 John 4:8, which states that "God is love." However, when I became a mother, the amount of love that I had for my children surprised me. As I thought about how much more God, with His infinite love, cared about me, I began to realize that some of His attributes could be better understood by examining the characteristics of mothers.

Good mothers are the same worldwide in both humans and animals. They feed, nourish, protect, and teach their children. They provide discipline and consistency. They inspire deep feelings of loyalty in their offspring. These are qualities that God instilled in all women, whether biological mothers or not.

This book will take the reader through the ways that mothers are portrayed in the Bible and throughout history. It provides scripture verses that highlight these divine attributes with examples and stories.
