MEET MARY ELLEN JOHNSON

The Golden Promise of Cripple Creek grew from my lifelong connection to union history-stories from my father, uncles, husband, and brothers about strikes, the Great Depression, and how unions built the middle class.

Living near the historic mining towns of Cripple Creek and Victor inspired me to shift from my medieval Knights of England series and earlier time-travel novels to this rich setting of gold, grit, and labor struggles.

I'm also the author of The Landlord's Black-Eyed Daughter, based on Alfred Noyes' poem The Highwayman (as Mary Ellen Dennis). When I'm not writing, I enjoy time with my children, grandchildren, and my German Shepherd, Karma the Wonder Dog.
