He was a gifted preacher and served many congregations in the Midwest, large and small. A charismatic leader, he served 13 years as District Superintendent of the Saint Paul, Red River Valley, and Chicago Districts.

- Letters Asle wrote to his church newspaper from 1914 to 1934, translated into English for the first time.
