Wychella: Blood Sibllings & The Becoming

Wychella wasn't always Wychella. Once upon a time, she was Isabel S嫕chez, a nerdy teen enamored of fairytales, myths, and legends. Her boundless imagination was her greatest strength, opening a portal to endless possibilities.

At her new school, Isabel is humiliated by snubs and racial slurs. Phoebe and Gerald are the targets of racist school bullies, too. The three become friends and quickly discover shared interests, particularly stories about witches and magic. Their bond deepens when, in defiance of the bullies, Isabel, Phoebe, and Gerald make a blood oath, vowing to always stand by one another. In honor of their blood pact, the blood siblings create the Kingdom of E, designating themselves as its leaders. Although it begins as playacting, the fantasy world they construct becomes essential to their identities. The influence of magic, initially imagined, begins to take root in their real lives, strengthening their bond and enabling special "gifts." Escaping into this world helps them cope not only with the bullies who target them but also with home situations that are less than ideal.

Isabel's deepest wish is to be a good witch, practice white magic, and do good things for others. She wants to cure the bullies of their cruelty, help Gerald find the father he has never met, and ensure that Phoebe does not move away. Isabel concentrates on channeling her intentions into spells.

When she discovers a peculiar bookstore and acquires a silver sphere, fantastic things begin to happen. The sphere becomes a conduit to powerful magic, enabling her spells and intentions.

Isabel soon senses that she is undergoing strange and unsettling transformations; the values she learned from her Poppa and her Granma waver. Despite her intentions to do good, her anger towards Griselda, the leader of the bullies, grows difficult to contain. This overwhelming anger unleashes extraordinary power, transforming her in ways she never imagined.

The transformation comes at a significant cost, marking the beginning of a fantastic, unforeseen journey neither she nor her blood siblings could have predicted.
