Video-Assisted Surgery: One Trocar Surgery (OTS)

The advent of minimally invasive surgery has revolutionized the surgical approach to many diseases especially in children. After a first moment of excitement when it seemed that everything could be done by ""endoscopic"", has since reached a more thoughtful next time at which the procedure minimally invasive (laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, Retroperitoneoscopic) was crucial to make their points by traditional, with the help and support visual and technology of modern surgery. The minimally invasive trocar single (""One Trocar Surgery"") includes all the video-assisted surgical procedures, or extracorporeal intracorporee, performed with a single entry (about 10 mm) and operational perspective. This discussion brings the experience of Pediatric Surgery, University of Bologna, gained from the video-assisted approach using a single trocar, now preferred, if technically feasible, to perform various abdominal surgery, thoracic and retroperitoneal.
