Book of Jubilees: Bilingual Edition - English & Ge'ez (Old Ethiopic)

The Book of Jubilees is an ancient and sacred work, preserved mainly in Ethiopian manuscripts, which presents a detailed narrative of biblical history from Creation to the time of Moses. This work provides a unique perspective on the events reported in Genesis and Exodus, offering chronological explanations and oral traditions preserved throughout the centuries.
The purpose of this edition is to make this work accessible to modern readers by presenting the text in English side by side with Ge'ez, the original Ethiopian language, allowing for comparative reading and detailed study of the text. Additionally, we have included a chronological map of the patriarchs, which helps visualize the genealogies and historical periods described.
The translation used in this edition is based on the work of Robert Henry Charles, respecting his fidelity to the original text. The editorial organization and bilingual adaptation were carried out by Vander C. de Castro, aiming for clarity and ease of study.
This preface also serves to guide the reader on how to use the edition: the verses are numbered according to Robert Henry Charles' version, allowing for precise reference; the reader may choose to read side by side (English / Ge'ez) or sequentially; the chronological map and editorial notes assist in understanding the narrative and the relationships among the characters.
