Auntie Gertrude: Sinner-Saint or Slut

My book, Auntie Gertrude, chronicles the rich family history of Ventura County, California from the late 1800s to 1945, revealing a tapestry woven with love, heartbreak, and resilience. Central to this narrative is my mother, Jenne, who served as a missionary in Africa before becoming a preacher's wife and raising seven children. Aunt Gertrude, a spiritualist, led a colorful life with one son and seven husbands, often communicating with the spirits of the deceased. Uncle Frank Hill, an executive at Union Oil, provided a steady influence during challenging times, while my grandmother Beth held the family together with compassion and strength, managing orange and lemon groves as a widowed matriarch.
