From what seems like a straightforward meeting with a friend of Zelah who is a well-known medium the Maze Investigators find themselves engaged in a series of three intriguing quests. Each has an aspect familiar to them - a previously unbreakable brick wall. In the first challenge, as Maggie and Zelah find themselves up against what looks like an impossible deadline, they become involved with and up against a local business family. Respectable on the surface; underneath, anything but. A rebel member of the family appeals for help, but can she be trusted?

The Maze Genealogy Investigators have taken on a herculean task with a looming deadline. But they must get to the answer to prevent a public relations disaster; and they must do it knowing no-one can ever know what they have done. Meanwhile they commit to helping a young girl find her missing presumed dead mother. When the cases split wide open, the outcomes of both are far from assured.
