Leo XIV

At the center of a tense conclave, Cardinal Giuseppe Ravasi emerges as the real favorite, while the internal maneuvers of influential cardinals divert the press's attention to other names. Amidst silent disputes - in particular between the conservative Peter Cole and the chamberlain Gianbattista Pozzo - Ravasi was elected Leo XIV and found in the encyclical Renovatio Ecclesiae, written together with the late Gregory XVII, the foundation for a profound reform without breaking with tradition.
