When Markus's blood is ingested by Ed's violent lover Brandle, Markus hunts him down in Griffith Park, ripping out his heart in a brutal necrotic execution to prevent the rise of another destroyer like Rashma.

In the end, Markus sells the diamond he names RAPTURE, buries his love, severs his humanity, and leaves Los Angeles with only purpose: to return to Tennessee, fulfill the prophecy, reclaim vengeance-and rise as Saint Markus, Keeper of the Sacred Writ and ruler of a new demonic order.
