Colors of the Ocean

Thirteen-year-old Roxi is certain her chaotic life with an unstable mother couldn't get any worse. Then she's coerced aboard Dawn's Dove with grandparents who are virtual strangers. As the dinky sailboat cruises across the Pacific Ocean, she will face adversities and learn to overcome fears.

Mama Carol is hopeful that as she navigates the tumultuous waters of a relationship with her granddaughter, this adventure-packed voyage will help foster a mutual bond of love with Roxi. She strives to subdue feelings of guilt from her misguided past with estranged daughter, Shalimar/aka Star, Roxi's mom, and tries to reestablish a connection with her.

Roxi's emotional upheaval gradually calms as several new relationships evolve along their journey. When they reach New Zealand, she must choose what she values most-return home to her old life or continue on with the new family who have given her a true sense of belonging.
