Family farming is a growing segment that is highly relevant to the country's development, despite the need for greater efforts in terms of public policy. However, different types of production units have particular and unique characteristics, the understanding of which requires specific analyses and assessments. Irrigation is absolutely necessary due to adverse climate conditions, soils, and lack of infrastructure in the semi-arid region, as rainfall levels are insufficient to meet the water demand of crops.
