This book reveals how
machines changed the world and threw it into chaos. Written long before computer technology had moved way beyond even what the author could imagine. As we face clashing cultures and their inevitable results, it is amazing how Stoddard was able to predict much of what we face now. Though some of the specifics he got wrong, he did know the results would not be good if something was not done to curtail them. As it turned out, nothing was done. Those who raised the alarm were criticized, rebuked, and expelled from proper society, and their ideas were suppressed as racist or intolerant. Even today we face these same issues and the same criticisms, rebukes, and suppression. They can't even be discussed without being labeled racist, intolerant, or completely outdated. The situation remains unchanged or even worse today than when it was first written. What the future holds remains to be seen. Is there any hope left as we see the birth rates among the Western peoples collapsing and those of others outpacing them at an alarming rate? Only time will tell.
