The years 1867 to 1877 marked a defining chapter in the life of Will Cody - better known as Buffalo Bill. As a scout for the U.S. Army, he played a key role in the Indian Wars, earning the respect of generals like Phil Sheridan through courage and skill. At the same time, he cemented his reputation as one of the most accomplished buffalo hunters of his time, supplying railroad crews with meat across the frontier. But Cody's life as a frontiersman was only one side of his story.
