In this sequel to Lovingly Restored, Russell and Natalka are faced with the unpleasant fact that their piano restoration business is no longer financially viable. The obvious course is to sell up and retire, but one concern remains, and that is the future of Russell's assistant Gemma, whose speech impediment excludes her from most forms of employment.
Their son Daniel offers her a post in his wind instrument repair business and finds that she is a dedicated worker. He also encounters the other impediment in Gemma's life, in the form of her blinkered, controlling father.
With the wholehearted support of his family never in question, however, Daniel proves himself worthy of the Tompkinson name in his bid to secure for her the therapy and freedom her father has denied her.
