Theology, Ecology, and Conservation: A New Path for Christian Conservationism is a theological treatise exploring how Holy Scripture commands Christians to protect and conserve creation-the Lord's garden. From the beginning, the biblical mandate is unmistakable: "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and keep it" (Genesis 2:15). For evangelicals who uphold the supreme authority of Scripture, this calling is not optional but foundational.
The Psalms remind us that "the heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1-2). To embrace this revelation fully is to recognize that the created world both reflects God's glory and demands our stewardship. Evangelical theology affirms this dual responsibility, to work and to care, so that believers may avoid the fate described in Revelation: judgment upon "those who destroy the earth" (Revelation 11:18).
This work argues that eschatological hope does not relieve humanity of its present responsibility. On the contrary, Christians are called to resist the sin of needless pollution and the neglect of God's creation. Without delving into the divisions of contemporary politics, Theology, Ecology, and Conservation: A New Path for Christian Conservationism offers a careful, Scripture-centered exploration of ecological stewardship, showing that the duty to protect the natural world is not an innovation but a clear and enduring command of God's Word.
