The Iskra Period

"The Iskra Period" represents a pivotal era in the political and philosophical development of Vladimir Lenin, focusing on the formative years of the Russian revolutionary movement. This volume collects essential writings, articles, and speeches produced during the publication of the newspaper "Iskra" (The Spark), which served as the primary ideological tool for unifying various social-democratic circles into a cohesive, disciplined party.

The texts within this collection detail Lenin's intense theoretical struggle against "Economism" and other reformist tendencies that he believed undermined the revolutionary potential of the working class. Through rigorous polemics and strategic analysis, Lenin lays the groundwork for the Bolshevik organizational structure, emphasizing the necessity of a vanguard party and professional revolutionaries. Readers will find crucial insights into the internal debates of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party and the strategic shifts that eventually led to the 1905 and 1917 revolutions.

An indispensable resource for students of political science, Marxist theory, and Russian history, this work captures a master strategist at a defining moment. It illuminates the transition from fragmented protest to a centralized revolutionary force, making it a foundational text for understanding the evolution of 20th-century geopolitical thought.
