This handbook on print media is intended for journalism students. It aims to help students develop the ability to distinguish between opinion pieces and news articles, but above all to equip them with the skills needed to produce effective journalistic writing. Students will explore various journalistic genres and their specific requirements, both in terms of data collection and processing, as well as the writing process itself. Th廩phraste Renaudot, a 17th-century French physician, is credited with founding the press as we know it today, with the publication of his Gazette officielle in 1631. Over time, technological revolutions have transformed the press and led to adjustments in its production, format, and distribution. Despite the crisis it has faced since the early 2000s-a crisis that has seen so many established daily and weekly newspapers bow to pressure and disappear from circulation-the print media has managed to maintain its reputation as a medium of depth. A reputation it could not preserve without adequate training for future journalists.
