Despite the presence of East Asian immigrant communities in North America since the sixteenth century, recent academic publications in Latinx theology neglect the presence of this Asian heritage of mestizaje. Hanna Kang shines a light on the Asian Latinx Mestizaje, affirming their unique experiences and role within American religious practices. Reflecting on and challenging the colonial legacy of racial categories which foster rivalry between minoritized communities, Kang wields the biblical narrative of Hagar and Ruth to chart a course for intercultural encounters among Asian Latinxs and other minority groups in the United States.
