Deserved Reputation: A New Standard for Corporate Trust

Companies don't lose their reputation in a crisis-they discover it was never truly deserved.

In Deserved Reputation, Jafar Alakbarov challenges the conventional belief that reputation can be managed through messaging or perception. He argues that true reputation is defined by what an organization can sustain when tested.

Drawing on his experience advising Fortune 500 leaders, Alakbarov introduces the concept of "deserved reputation"-a form of trust grounded in an organization's ability to absorb the cost of its own decisions. When incentives, accountability, and oversight are misaligned, those costs shift across teams and time, eventually returning as risk, failure, or public consequence.

Through a clear and practical framework, the book helps leaders diagnose where trust is real and where it is inflated. By introducing cost movement as a diagnostic tool, it enables readers to trace how decisions create downstream effects-and where hidden risks accumulate.

At a time when reputations can rise quickly and collapse even faster, Deserved Reputation offers a powerful new standard for building trust that endures under pressure.
