Begin a slower, meaningful journey through Scripture with Year 1 of Knowing God: 5-Year Braided Chronological Bible Reading Plan.
Year 1: Beginnings, Promise, and the God Who Speaks starts where the Bible begins: with God speaking light into darkness, creating the world with purpose, and revealing His goodness from the very first page of Scripture.
This first volume introduces readers to the foundation of the biblical story through creation, the fall, the flood, the patriarchs, the covenant promises, the exodus, the giving of the law, and the early formation of God's people. Designed for younger readers, families, homeschool Bible study, youth groups, and growing disciples, this plan offers lighter daily readings that are easier to follow while still preserving the major themes of the Bible.
Unlike a standard Bible reading plan divided by verse count, the 5-Year Braided Chronological Bible Plan arranges each day's reading into meaningful theme blocks so the passage feels complete, connected, and easier to understand. Related New Testament readings, Psalms, prophetic connections, and fulfillment passages are woven in where they naturally illuminate the chronological flow of Scripture.
Throughout Year 1, readers will trace the Bible's first great movements: God creates, humanity falls, sin spreads, judgment comes, mercy remains, and God begins calling a covenant people through whom blessing will come to the nations. Along the way, they will encounter Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham and Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Israel's rescue from Egypt, the wilderness journey, and the promises that prepare the way for Jesus Christ.
This chronological Bible reading plan is ideal for:
Year 1 invites readers not only to understand what happened in Scripture, but to recognize what each passage reveals about God, humanity, faith, obedience, covenant, redemption, and the gospel.
If you are looking for a clear, family-friendly, chronological Bible reading plan that helps connect the Old Testament story to the hope of Jesus, Year 1: Beginnings, Promise, and the God Who Speaks is a strong place to begin.
