You have competed your entire life. No one told you the Games had started.
Every day, without noticing, you enter competitions no one agreed to hold. You race the microwave. You judge the checkout lines. You carry all the groceries in one trip because two would feel like giving up. You press the elevator button that's already lit - and then press it again, harder, because apparently that's how electricity works.
The Invisible Games is a collection of twenty short, funny essays about the tiny, universal contests that fill an ordinary human life - and the strange relief of realizing everyone else is competing in them too. From the Grocery Bag Decathlon to the Revolving Door Relay, from the Name-Remembering Pentathlon to the great vigil of the airport luggage carousel, Victoria Penley turns the smallest moments of daily life into full-blown sporting events - complete with gold medals, replay reviews, and the occasional oddly comforting truth. If you've ever lost to an unwieldy shopping cart, sprinted to bed before the dark could get you, or lost a silent standoff to a parking space - congratulations. You've already qualified.外文書商品之書封，為出版社提供之樣本。實際出貨商品，以出版社所提供之現有版本為主。部份書籍，因出版社供應狀況特殊，匯率將依實際狀況做調整。
