The Practice of the Presence of God: Contemporary Edition

Discover the Joy of Walking with God in Every Ordinary Moment

What if your relationship with God didn't have to be confined to your morning devotional or Sunday worship? What if every ordinary moment could become an opportunity to experience His presence, peace, and love?

For more than three centuries, The Practice of the Presence of God has helped countless believers discover the simple, transformative habit of continual conversation with God. Compiled from the letters and conversations of the humble 17th-century monk Brother Lawrence, this beloved Christian classic offers refreshingly real advice for anyone longing to experience a deeper, more personal relationship with the Lord.

Brother Lawrence didn't find God through long hours of retreat and extraordinary spiritual experiences. He found Him while washing dishes, preparing meals, and faithfully carrying out everyday responsibilities that he wouldn't have chosen for himself. His remarkable testimony reminds us that God is just as present in the routines of daily life as He is in moments of prayer and worship, and that He cares about every concern, no matter how small or mundane.

With honesty, humility, and profound simplicity, Brother Lawrence shares how he learned to turn his thoughts toward God throughout the day--thanking Him, seeking His guidance, confessing his distractions, and resting in His constant presence. His message offers hope to anyone who has struggled with distraction or boredom in prayer, felt spiritually dry, or found themselves in a job or season of life that doesn't feel fulfilling. Like Brother Lawrence, we can enjoy being with God, no matter our circumstances.

If you've ever wished faith felt more natural, more constant, and more deeply woven into everyday life, The Practice of the Presence of God offers a gentle, biblical path toward experiencing God's peace, joy, and companionship in every moment.
