商品簡介
This book is a collection of four articles that address the mining sector and community development in the DR Congo. The DR Congo is recognized as a mining nation across its provinces. Katanga Province is often referred to as the DR Congo's copper and cobalt mining province. The vast majority of foreign exchange earnings come from mining. Given that the DR Congo continues to rely on a rentier economy, it was of great importance to examine how the DR Congo, through its policies, could maximize the benefits of this promising sector in order to revitalize other sectors. The book addresses four key points, which are: ➢ Mining taxation in the DR Congo; ➢ Resources for communities adjacent to mining operations; ➢ Local entrepreneurship among "youth and women"; ➢ Development aid. These four pillars help us understand how the Congolese government, through its policies, maximizes revenue from the mining sector via tax policy, local consumption, local enterprise, and development aid-all of which are key pillars for contributing to the DRC's economic and inclusive growth.
