In a forgotten corner of the thirteen colonies, where history rarely lingers, one family's story reveals the soul of a nation being born. Rutter House is a richly woven historical novel that brings to life the quiet struggles, deep convictions, and enduring hope of early Americans. Set in a little known town that nonetheless brushed against the currents of great events and remarkable figures, the story follows the Rutter family across twenty-two pivotal years. Through their trials and triumphs, readers glimpse the powerful allure of freedom and the resilience that would come to define a people.
Blending authentic voices, period dialogue, and carefully drawn inspiration from real historical writings and publications, the novel offers an immersive journey into the 18th century. Familiar figures such as Benjamin Franklin appear alongside fictional characters whose lives reflect the moral questions, hardships, and aspirations of the time. From the complexities of early American society to the beginnings of the abolitionist movement, the story does not shy away from the realities that shaped a young nation.
With touches of literary respect, personal influences, and a deep reverence for the era, the author crafted a narrative that is both intimate and expansive. Like the great storytellers before him, he takes creative license where needed to illuminate a greater truth: that ordinary people, living simple lives, helped forge extraordinary ideals.
At its heart, Rutter House is a tribute to the founding spirit of America which was born in adversity, refined through sacrifice, and anchored in a belief that freedom is worth its highest cost.
