The "woo" guide to biohacking with Dr. Lisa Koche Sovereign Medicine is an integrative approach of Western and functional medicine through a spiritual perspective. Maximizing your health and lifespan will involve experts along the way--but it should also involve other practices that address your spirit and the energy around you and within you. Dr. Koche, MD, will show you how to trust your own intuition and body so that you can reverse disease, resolve symptoms, slow aging, and live a life filled with love, ease, fun, and adventure. Living in sovereignty means you have many partners (doctors, friends, family, neighbors), but you are not ruled or governed by anyone but yourself. You have not handed over your power to a diagnosis or system. Both science and intuition are your allies. It means you know how to listen to your body, interpret its signals, and discern what's right for you. It's freedom with responsibility.
As humans, we are made up of mind, body, and spirit. Most modern practitioners only focus on the first two, ignoring the spiritual aspect: in particular, the mind-body connection. In this book, Dr. Koche focuses on what she calls the five core healing pillars: gut, adrenals, hormones and thyroid, infections, and stress. When you finally seek healing through this comprehensive approach, you become sovereign over your healthcare--over your life.
All the chapters include a blend of personal stories, compelling data, practical takeaways, advice for how to advocate for care with your medical doctor, and inspiration to remind you how much agency--sovereignty--you have over your own health.
