Metabolic Syndrome (MS) is a clinical syndrome of a multifactorial nature. It was first recognized in the medical literature more than 80 years ago and has been referred to by various names over time. It is not a single disease, but rather a cluster of health problems that may occur simultaneously or sequentially in the same individual, caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors associated with lifestyle, in which insulin resistance is considered the key pathogenic component. The presence of metabolic syndrome is associated with a significantly increased risk of diabetes, coronary artery disease, and cerebrovascular disease. The aim of this study is to describe the patterns of metabolic syndrome in geriatric patients at the "Camilo Cienfuegos" Provincial General Hospital in Sancti Sp甏itus during the period from 2023 to 2025. To this end, a prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive study will be conducted. The study population will consist of all geriatric patients with metabolic syndrome in the province of Sancti Sp甏itus, and the sample will include all geriatric patients with metabolic syndrome.
