Zomi: People of the Lost Paradise. Discover the untold story of the Zomi people, a resilient highland community whose ancestral homeland, Zogam, spans the mountainous regions of Myanmar, India, and Bangladesh. In this compelling narrative, Zogam is revealed as the Zomi's sacred "Eden," a land of unity, identity, and belonging.
Through meticulous research and indigenous oral traditions, the author traces the Zomi's journey from their ancient origins to their present-day struggles. The book explores their profound loss of land, unity, and identity due to colonial fragmentation, Burmanization policies, and military dictatorship. Despite these challenges, the Zomi have demonstrated remarkable resilience, preserving their cultural heritage and sustaining hope across a global diaspora.
The Zomi's unfulfilled quests for socio-political autonomy, historical identity, and ecological restoration reflect their enduring search for paradise. This book is a testament to their perseverance and a call for solidarity, wisdom, and renewed imagination to support their journey toward restoration and justice.
Zomi: People of the Lost Paradise is a powerful exploration of history, memory, and hope-an essential read for anyone seeking to understand the Zomi story and the universal human longing for home.
