作者簡介
作者對大自然的熱愛來自於父母的培養；儘管事業繁忙，他們仍決心讓孩子們能享受到台灣美麗的翠綠森林世界以及難忘的觀星體驗；拜訪山中老家時，全家常在星空下吃點心、喝熱茶閒聊到深夜。
作者是一位致力於"再利用"環保理念的室內設計師，目前除了出書以外也努力地在台灣設計與建造永續、抗災的土建築 (加固土坯屋)。她希望大家在不久的將來能夠欣賞並體驗到歐！
Author's love of nature was nurtured by her parents whom, despite their busy career, made sure their kids got to enjoy wonderful emerald forests of Taiwan, as well as memorable stargazing experiences involving eating yummy snacks, drinking hot fragrant teas, and plenty of late-night chitchats when visiting their old house in the mountain.
As an interior designer who embraces the concept of "reuse," besides diligently publishing her novels, the author is also working hard to design and build sustainable and disaster-resistant Superadobes (fortified soil structures) in Taiwan, which she hopes many will get to see and enjoy in the near future!

「路易斯先生，我們會拜訪一個亞馬遜部落… 他們孩子必須承受很多次“子彈螞蟻儀式”的Satere-Mawe部落嗎？」小凱問。
「不會的，但我們剛好就將經過他們的領域。」路易斯先生說：「你們知道子彈螞蟻儀式其實是用來保護他們孩子的喔！聽起來雖然很瘋狂，但那些螞蟻的叮咬等於強力的預防針。」
路易斯先生剛說完就對著河邊的兩個人揮揮手：「啊! 我們的Satere-Mawe朋友們！」
他們越深入茂密的河川叢林，天色就變得越暗。他們划了一個半小時後，路易斯先生從船上跳下來開始推著獨木舟上岸，並且說明從現在起他們會用走路的方式到達他們的目的地。
小凱跟媽媽懷疑現在走入叢林是否明智，因為天很快就要黑了。當媽媽正要踩上亞馬遜肥沃的泥地時，路易斯先生遞給她一雙鞋 :「請換上這雙草鞋。」
小凱一看到草鞋就開始大笑：「什麼？ 草鞋？這鞋子應該很快就爛了吧！」
可是當媽媽把草鞋穿上時，鞋上的草好像活過來一樣… 它們迅速地張開長長的綠手臂將媽媽從腳到膝蓋下全裹住。葉子本身也瞬間變得像雨鞋橡膠般硬！
“Mr. Luiz, are we going to visit the Amazon tribe, whose kids must endure many “bullet-ant rituals? The Satere-Mawe tribe?” Kai asked.
“No, but we are about to pass through their territory,” said Mr. Luiz. “Did you know bullet-ant rituals were actually done to protect their children? Crazy as it sounds, these ant bites served as powerful immunization shots.”
As soon as Mr. Luiz stopped talking, he waved to two men by the riverbank. “There they are! Our Satere-Mawe friends!”
Daylight dimmed as they rowed deeper into the dense river jungle. After one and a half hours of rowing, Mr. Luiz jumped off and guided the boat onto land. He told them they would now be on foot for the rest of their travel.
Kai and Mother wondered if it was wise to walk into the jungle right now, as it was getting dark fast. When Mother was about to step onto Amazon’s fertile soil, Mr. Luiz handed her a pair of sandals and said, “Please switch to this pair of leaf sandal.”
Kai started laughing really hard when he saw the sandals. “What? Leaf sandals? These would get ruined in no time!”
But as soon as Mother put a sandal on, the leaves came alive and wrapped their long green arms around her whole foot from ankle to below the knee, then turned as hard as rubber rain boots!

哇！這個瀑布好壯觀啊！媽媽和小凱目睹這能夠在幾秒內將數千噸的水傾瀉到陡峭懸崖山脊上的強大瀑布時想。
他們飛得越近，瀑布的水聲就越強烈。當他們可以感覺到水氣時，他們想 一多先生一定會慢下來，但他反而加快速度。
「我們必須馬上轉彎，要不然會撞上瀑布啊！」媽媽在震耳欲聾的瀑布聲中急喊道。
「相信我們，抓緊就好！」以多先生快速地回答。
當媽媽和小凱想他們已經完蛋時，世界突然變得好安靜。 他們睜開緊閉的眼睛看著前方這個奇特的世界。
Wo! This is some waterfall! Mother and Kai thought as they witnessed its powerful veils dumping thousands of tonnes of water down its steep cliff ridges in split seconds.
The sound of waterfall intensified as they got closer. When they could actually feel the mist, they thought Mr. Edu would slow down, but he sped up instead.
“We must take a turn now, or we will run into the waterfall!” Mother hastily shouted through the deafening sound of the waterfall.
“Trust us and hold on tight!” Mr. Tito answered promptly.
Just as Mother and Kai thought it was the end of them, the world suddenly became real quiet. They opened their tightly closed eyes to see the strange new world before them.
