序▎PrefaceThis memoir consists of three parts. In the first part, I describe how I, as a teenager, ran away from home in 1948, how I escaped from a Communists’ detention center located in the central eastern Shandong Province, how I survived by being a peddler selling shoes in Qingdao, how I was sort of student again, in an abandoned silk factory at a township, Changanzhen, and how I ran through the hilly lands to get to Fuzhou, and how I joined the army on the Penghu Islands. During the period of six years from 1948 to 1954, at one time, I was in danger of being killed falling off the rather steep cliff of a hill when retreating to the south in the Chinese Mainland, at the other, I almost died of typhus, the terrible disease spread on the Penghu Archipelago. As I ranked non-commissioned officer in the army, I once imagined that if I could be discharged from the army
When Islands Dream extends analysis of dreams in recent trauma studies to the Dreaming Ceremony in Matsu, and boldly asks: can artists play the role of “dreamers”, collecting lost dreams while also evoking imaginations about the future? This project incorporates sound collection, dance performances, video installation and photo-cartography workshops to uncover latent memories and emotions, projecting and overlaying residents' thoughts on the present and future, and constructing a local spatial and temporal archive for Matsu.

Mathemagical Cruise is not a mere collection of fun problems with clever solutions. It offers shining examples of how to approach problem solving. Each chapter is independent and can be read in any order by everyone with a basic background in high school mathematics. Some highlights of the excursion are: ● Slick Solutions of Double Sequence, Klarner’s Puzzle, Cube Tour, etc.● Easy Proofs of Bolyai-Gerwin Theorem, Problem by P. Erdös and more● New Year Puzzles (Especially, Year 2021 & 2022)● Twelve Points on the Nine-Point Circle● What's a Point in a Square?● Five Circles through a 5x6 Grid● Generalization of Ceva's Theorem● Easy Approach to Coaxal Circles● Inversion and its Applications● Lattice Integer Triangles● Isbell's Problem● Sequence of Theorems of Simson & Cantor● Miscellaneous Problems with Solutions By cruising through these treasure islands, the reader will traverse mathematical boundaries. Waves in Oceanic and Coastal Waters describes the observation, analysis and prediction of wind-generated waves in the open ocean, in shelf seas, and in coastal regions with islands, channels, tidal flats and inlets, estuaries, fjords and lagoons. Most of this richly illustrated book is devoted to the physical aspects of waves. After introducing observation techniques for waves, both at sea and from space, the book defines the parameters that characterise waves. Using basic statistical and physical concepts, the author discusses the prediction of waves in oceanic and coastal waters, first in terms of generalised observations, and then in terms of the more theoretical framework of the spectral energy balance. He gives the results of established theories and also the direction in which research is developing. The book ends with a description of SWAN (Simulating Waves Nearshore), the preferred computer model of the engineering community for predicting waves in coastal waters.
