《21世紀大學英語應用型綜合教程（第3版）2》包括8個單元。每個單元教學內容分為4個主要部分，建議8學時完成。每單元第一部分Starter為整個單元的導入部分，提供與單元主題相關的詞匯，讓學生按照具體要求對詞匯進行歸類，激活學生已有的背景知識，引入單元主題。第二部分Part A為主課文模塊（建議4學時），其導入部分包括觀看一段與Text A主題相關的視頻進行聽寫填空以及擴展討論兩個循序漸進的任務。課文配套練習設計包括Comprehension of the Text，Language Focus，Reading in Depth，Translation和Interaction。 其中Interaction部分為口語練習，旨在讓學生回憶所學與單元主題有關的單詞及相關知識，引導學生逐步深入思考問題，並有意識地使用句型，在自由討論環節鼓勵學生自由表達想法。第三部分Part B為副課文模塊（建議2―3學時），其導入部分為聽一段與Text B主題相關的聽力材料，然後完成填空練習。課文配套練習設計包括Comprehension of the Text，Language Focus和Translation（段落翻譯），這三部分練習與TextA配套的相應練習均有所不同。第四部分為Part C Skill Development（建議1―2學時），包括writing和Wor。kshop兩部分。Writing部分由Video-based Writing與Practical Writing兩部分組成。Video-based Writing主題與單元主題一致，旨在讓學生通過看懂視頻，從而將其中的一些觀點應用於寫作。PracticalWriting為實用英語寫作。Workshop部分為課外學習項目，旨在以電腦和網絡等為工具，培養學生探究型自主學習的能力，並與同學合作完成一些與單元主題相關的調研任務。《21世紀大學英語應用型綜合教程（第3版）2》的練習設計從篇章理解到詞彙學習，再到口語互動，層層深入，緊扣課文及單元主題，同時針對不同學校的實際情況和使用需要，提供不同的選擇和組合的可能。
