In 1992, while presenting at the World Futures Studies Federation course on International Development, I shifted my lecture from the typical rehearsed presentation on factors explaining maldevelopment to a real time unpacking/deconstruction of transportation futures. 近來，決策對個人也好，對企業也好，漸漸成為相當重要的課題。因為做錯了決策以致奪走企業壽命的例子屢見不鮮，此種傾向在不透明感愈形濃厚的現代社會中更為強烈。並且，隨著社會的系統化進展，決策的影響比以往更深且廣。決策必須是從複雜交織的要素中慎重的制訂出來。太單純的斷章取義恐有疏忽重要要素之風險，相反的利用太複雜的手法又很難臨機應變。究竟有無簡便的方法可以均衡的引進多樣要素呢？因應此要求所出現的方法即為AHP（Analytic Hierarchy Process：層級分析法）。此層級分析法為1971年匹茲堡大學教授沙第(Thomas L. Saaty）所發展出來，經過三十多年之發展，已成為現今決策領域中常見之決策工具。AHP是利用階層構造來掌握與決策有關聯的要素。利用階層圖、一對比較、重要度決定、計算綜合的重要度等之步驟加以展開、分析。讀本書時，請從理解第I篇的「基礎」開始。如果讀過一遍，請分析簡單的問題。然後再讀第II篇及後面的部分。透過其中所展開的種種事例，想必可以立即理解以遊戲感（Game feeling）進行決策的意義。本書的特徵以條列式來說，即為：．「使感性科學化」．「單刀直入的解說不明狀況」．「以遊戲感來下決策」．「對多樣化的價值觀探求應對之道」本書是AHP的入門圖解書，簡潔的解說基本並介紹許多應用事例，若想利用軟體分析，可前往相關網站下載相關軟體，如：Expert choice、Power choice或Superdecisions。
