First published in 1986, this book explores the areas of income distribution and welfare. Analyzing Redistribution Policies developed appropriate techniques to analyze the extent and nature of income inequality and welfare and to measure the direct impact of taxes and government cash transfers on the distribution of income by size of income and other household characteristics. What was the extent of inequality of income and which way was it moving? Was the burden of taxation evenly distributed across the population? Did the rich pay proportionately more or less taxes than the poor? What were the effects of government programs on the welfare of particular groups in the community? An attempt was made to answer these and other related questions by an analysis of the Australian data obtained from the 1975–1976 Household Expenditure Survey. Written in a fairly nontechnical manner, Analyzing Redistribution Policies can be understood with limited knowledge of economics and statistics.

This book, originally published in 1975, presents a theory of behaviour in coalitions and presents an application of the theory to Indian political party coalitions. The major findings of the study are (a) the size of political parties is unimportant when important benefits are distributed in coalitions; (b) behaviour that combines a moderate degree of cooperation and competition with one's allies leads to a much greater political success than either highly competitive or highly cooperative behaviour; and (c) political parties with leaders whose personalities can be characterised as having a high need to achieve enjoy much greater electoral success than parties whose leaders are relatively low in need for achievement. Process algebra is a widely accepted and much used technique in the specification and verification of parallel and distributed software systems. This book sets the standard for the field. It assembles the relevant results of most process algebras currently in use, and presents them in a unified framework and notation.
