Under the work-unit system, the vast majority of people had guaranteed employment, a host of benefits tied to their workplace, and there was little mobility—factors that made the delivery of medical and public health services possible in both urban and rural areas. The Sinological Development Charitable Foundation (SDCF) aspires to help spread 5,000 years of cultural history embedded in the Chinese Classics as a fundamental basis for understanding Chinese civilization. To that end, every year since 2016, the SDCF has provided intensive summer programs by which means scholars from across the globe are brought together in situ (in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and mainland China) to learn together and share their research into some of the most important topics in Chinese Studies. In Painting Architecture: Jiehua in Yuan China, 1271–1368, Leqi Yu has conducted comprehensive research on jiehua or ruled-line painting, a unique painting genre in fourteenth-century China. This genre relies on tools such as rulers to represent architectural details and structures accurately. Such technical consideration and mechanical perfection linked this painting category with the builder’s art, which led to Chinese elites’ belittlement and won Mongol patrons’ admiration. Yu suggests that painters in the Yuan dynasty made new efforts towards a unique modular system and an unsurpassable plain-drawing tradition. She argues that these two strategies made architectural paintings in the Yuan dynasty entirely different from their predecessors, as well as making the art form extremely difficult for subsequent painters to imitate.

This edited volume, with contributions from eleven distinguished scholars, tells a story of a Chinese intellectual community in London that up to now has been largely overlooked. The ultimate goal of this thesis is to construct an optimal global portfolio with ETFs. We choose the iShares MSCI country index ETFs as our assets. We start with the calculation of correlation between these countries. We find out that there is potential benefit undertaking international diversification. While comparing with the former research, the potential benefit is smaller. We examine the effect of investing internationally of each country. And we can see that not all countries are benefit from international diversification. While considering international diversification, investors have to look at the characteristic of the domestic country to make decision. In the international level, we can see that the investment risk would decrease and the return would increase. And the marginal effect decreases. In our test, the return, risk and efficiency come stable after adding the 14th asset into the global portfolio. Therefore we construct our global portfolio with 13 assets. We can see
