Eleven types of armors were laboratory tested and their performances concerning the random placements of armors for two different surface slopes of rubble mound breakwater were compared. The three major categories of performance comparison are wave reflection, wave run-up and run-down, and armor stability. Due to the vast differences both in the setups of experiments and in the methodologies of data acquisition and analyses, the multitude of existing literatures yielded extremely scattering results, which are generally quite inconclusive and inconsistent, as well as incomparable. To cope with these problems the present research carries out the following: (1) Factors that affect armor behaviors are detailed and those that are modeled or not are indicated; (2) A real time laboratory system for data acquisition, monitoring, calibration, and analyses is developed, and the integrated program aims to provide accurate, convenient, and automated on-site processes; (3) Based upon the intrinsic

This edited volume addresses the phenomenon called globalization by highlighting its neoliberal origins and critiquing its disguising as human destiny from three levels of contemporary culture: existential, national, and transnational. Exposing the masquerading of neoliberal globalization as the perpetual peace after the end of history, the authors of this volume to different extents all call upon us to reflect on its Capital-driven and Western-centric nature and operations, with a view to facilitate its end and explore the possibility of a new phase of global collaborations through which we can tackle the roots of the natural and man-made catastrophes incurred by neoliberal globalization.

Calculus: Applications in Constrained Optimization provides an accessible yet mathematically rigorous introduction to constrained optimization, designed for undergraduate students who have some experiences with multivariable calculus. Based on a successful course at National Taiwan University (NTU) ── Calculus 4: Applications in Economics and Management, this book connects foundational calculus with contemporary techniques of optimization used in economics, management, and data science.Classical tools such as Lagrange multipliers and second derivative tests are extended into a general framework that covers both equality and inequality constraints. Readers will also learn to identify degenerate cases and apply second-order conditions in multivariable settings. Key concepts from linear algebra are introduced and integrated throughout. Each chapter concludes with a carefully structured set of exercises:● Type (A) questions test basic understanding;● Type (B) questions reinforce key example
