LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT IN EDUCATION

Teachers are usually trained only to teach but not on education management. Many of them end up in the management role because of opportunities, necessity and personal preference. Oftentimes, they have to learn on the job.

This book is designed to help educational administrators in developing essential skills and competencies for leading and managing educational institutions. Drawing on a set of rich data from many international cases, the authors try to provide a comprehensive coverage from the perspectives of both theory and practice on the issues of educational leadership and administration. Text covers three inter-related parts: history and foundations, structures and processes, leadership and management. David T. Gamage is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Master of Leadership and Management in Education (MLMEd) Programme at the Faculty of Education, the University of Newcastle. He has been teaching education management since 1989 at over 20 universities in 11 countries in the capacity of a visiting scholar/professor. He has published widely, including two books, over 90 papers and a large number of articles in 35 international journals.
